Movie Review : 8 X 10 Tasveer

When the movie director is Nagesh Kukunoor, expectation increases. How can one forget Iqbal, Dor, 3 Deewarein, Hyderabad Blues and my fav, Rockford. At the same time I don’t want to remember the movie “Bombay to Bangkok” which had nothing remarkable.

Nagesh came back this year with “8 X 10 Tasveer”. It’s a story of a middle age Man, Jay. Jay has a Girlfriend with whom he is in Live-in relation, his mom, dad. A small family. Though he never liked his father’s business (I still don’t know what business his father had). He had something more with him, a supernatural power. Show him a picture and he can see the 1minute post facto incidence with any of the person’s eye, who was captured in the camera.

Picture turned when jay’s father dies when he was in a cruise ship with his wife and other business partner. Doctors told that it was a heart attack followed by drowning. Though Jay’s father was good swimmer and he left the entire will on his wife’s name (who was present in the cruise). Jay considered it as accident and forget.

Again story turns when Jay keep seeing a dream in his father asked him to help him plus an inspector (Javed Jeffery) tells him that his father might get murdered. Thankfully they had a picture in cruise, just before his father dies. Jay goes again in the picture and realizes that it wasn’t a mere accident, someone was defiantly fishy there. He tries finding the secret which result a killing attempt on him and his wife. Still Jay tries finding the secret and here we comes in the end, with a secret reveling reel.

When it comes to acting, according to me except Sharmila Tagore (Jay’s Mom) and Javed Jeffery (Happi with an “I”), no one did the justice with acting. Yes, you got it right, not even Akshay Kumar. There was no action sequence too, which I was expecting.

How about story and suspense maintaining? OK, I guess I have seen enough and I got it in the 30minutes. But Nagesh succeeded in maintaining the same. At the same time there was enough homework done in linking the story with different parts. Only problem was, there was nothing special in the story.

If you want to see beautiful location (including Jay’s parents’ home) and any kind of murder mystery, Congrts, you will get something, but if you ask from a Great mystery and Good acting, my suggestion don’t go for it. Nothing very fascinating here….
